Welcome to The Shnoogy Lady’s world, where we blend creativity, education, and emotional empowerment! Constance M Douglas, affectionately known as The Shnoogy Lady, is an accomplished Author, Illustrator, and Performer dedicated to nurturing emotional self-awareness in children. With an Associate of Arts degree and various certifications in Art, Design, and Mindfulness, Constance brings a wealth of knowledge and a passion for storytelling to her work.
As a certified Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) teacher and a lively puppeteer, Constance captivates young audiences with her unique characters: Shnoogy and Kruddy. Through engaging narratives and performances, she helps children explore different thought pathways, encouraging them to make positive choices and actions. Her essential question—do Shnoogy and Kruddy empower children to navigate their emotions?—guides her mission to instill confidence, kindness, and empathy in school-aged children.
Currently pursuing a 2-year Honors Thesis at the University of Lethbridge focusing on Empathy and Storytelling, Constance is committed to honing her skills in Performance Arts, Movement, Voice, and Psychology. Her ongoing independent study on the social-emotional benefits of reciprocal storytelling reflects her dedication to enhancing emotional literacy in elementary students. She is grateful to her co-instructors, Dr. Jean-Baptiste Leca from the Psychology Department at the University of Lethbridge and Dr. Afra Foroud, a neuroscientist and behavioral specialist at Lethbridge Montessori, for their invaluable support in building and ethically testing her KICK program.
We aim to empower children to recognize their own agency and the impact of kindness through the experiences of Shnoogy and Kruddy. By teaching kids how to "Toss their Kruddy and Ignite their Shnoogy," we help them choose their own road to happiness while fostering a deeper understanding of their feelings.
